The next time you visit the Central Coast, I'd like to encourage you to visit this little gem--San Simeon! It is just up Highway One North of Cambria about 6 miles and there are lots of things there and beyond that are fun for young and old alike! Just North of San Simeon is the famous Hearst Castle and opposite the entrance to the Castle is the old port of San Simeon where the treasures that Hearst brought from Europe were brought in by boat. There is the old Sebastian's Store there where you will find the BEST deli for miles around and also the Hearst Winery tasting room and the old San Simeon Post Office (still operating!) About four miles on up the road is an opportunity to visit the elephant seals--amazing to see--and then in the background you will see the Piedras Blanco Lighthouse where you can take a tour and learn more about this area. A mere17 miles ahead is Ragged Point, a lovely place with a restaurant, a walk-up food place and a lodge and some of the most beautiful views along Highway One. Of course, just  a few miles more and you will be in Big Sur and then Carmel and beyond! It is a spectacular drive all along the way!
